Art Garfunkel Jr. Presents Magical Holiday Soundtrack – „Advent“ Now Available

Art Garfunkel Jr. releases his first Christmas album „Advent“ via TELAMO/BMG – including three duets with his father Art Garfunkel Sr. The album is available as a CD, expanded vinyl edition (2LP with two bonus tracks), and a limited fan box.
For several years, Art Garfunkel Jr. has been consistently in the top chart positions, recently delighting fans with the acclaimed duet album „Father and Son“ (Garfunkel & Garfunkel), which reached the Top 5 of the Official German Album Charts. With „Advent“, the American musician invites fans to dream and celebrate the season – now available everywhere.
Previously, for the expanded edition of his Top-10 debut album „Wie Du“, Art Garfunkel Jr. recorded „Stille Nacht“ as a bonus track. With „Advent“, he now presents his first full festive album: 14 beautiful tracks, including Traditionals and Christmas classics, interpreted with his own unique sound. Some songs are entirely in German, some entirely in English, and some are unique German-English hybrid versions – a signature feature of Art Garfunkel Jr.
Minimal arrangements, surprising Eighties-inspired touches, and three reinterpretations with his father complete the album. The lead single „Happy Xmas (War Is Over)“ has been available for streaming since November 7 and showcases the special father-son chemistry present throughout the album.

„Advent“ means arrival – a time of anticipation, reflection, and pause. The album celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, which is being celebrated for the 2,525th time this year.
Art Garfunkel Jr., mostly in German, occasionally in English, deeply explores holiday traditions while focusing on minimalism: vocals and lush arrangements are front and center. Together with producer Felix Gauder (Pet Shop Boys, Jimmy Somerville, Andrea Berg, Maite Kelly), he reveals the emotional core of these partly centuries-old compositions.
The opening track „Auld Lang Syne“ demonstrates this: just a hint of a beat under gently flowing synthesizer and keyboard layers creates an emotional frame for the Scottish classic. Together with his father, who celebrates his 84th birthday a few weeks before Christmas, he presents this hymn to „times gone by“: two generations, two exceptional voices, sharing „a cup o’ kindness“ on their shared journey.
With English and German lyrics, Art Garfunkel Jr. explores the white winter forest: „Kein Mensch weit und breit / nur wir sind zu zweit / wandern durch den weißen Winterwald“ – and as in the U.S. original „Winter Wonderland“, snow meets laid-back strings and carefree swing.
The German version of „Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas“ titled „Heute Nacht sind alle Engel schlaflos“ conveys calm, ease, and compassion – accompanied by contemplative acoustic guitars.
Surprising twists run throughout the album: from the rhythm of „Der kleine Trommler“ to Eighties elements and nearly beatless passages between languages („Wir wünschen Euch frohe Weihnacht“). „What Child Is This“ also radiates serenity and reflection.
